If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

8-7-19 Meeka is a very sweet girl who is a little withdrawn about being here. She has come to us from a breeder and we are told she walked in with her previous owner but now she here won't walk for us yet. Meeka has a large scar across her chest but we don't know why. Meeka is going to need another dog in her new home to help her settle as she has never lived inside a home before.  She will need to learn all about house training and becoming a much loved pet dog.

27-07-19 UPDATE

Meeka has come out of her shell A LOT since her arrival at Many Tears! She is a very sweet, gentle, kind, mild mannered lady who is desperate to be loved and be part of a family. She will slowly and elegantly climb our laps for fuss, gently and politely sniff our faces - her whiskers brushing against our noses!  Her doleful eyes brighten up as she gazes into our eyes - her eyes are full of SO much love! Love is all she wants!
Meeka gets on perfectly with every single dog she meets and is kennelled with. She is best friends with a male bichon and a female beagle. The male bichon adores her and they both snuggle up to each other in bed every single day. Her other best friend is a larger female beagle who actually resides in another kennel! Her name is Bego and she loves to chase Meeka around the sandschool! At first Meeka was very overwhelmed and was a little worried especially when Bego bowled her over playing... Meeka laid on her back all submissively. It was sad to witness, but shows what a submissive, gentle lady our Meeka really is.  She is now much more comfortable with Bego playing boisterously with her as she very quickly realised Bego just wants to have fun and isn't going to hurt her! The two of them run around the sandschool jumping around - having loads of fun!
Meeka is an extremely GENTLE, QUIET girl, but if encouraged by another dog, will join in with having some fun! Meeka is very popular, and all dogs are really drawn to her which I find fascinating. They can clearly see, and agree with us humans, that Meeka is a very special girl. Now that she has settled and realised no harm is going to come to her, Meeka looks forward to her walks! She walks beautifully on the lead - gently in front of us, and she loves to have a sniff. She has in fact help me train a few dogs how to walk on a harness and lead. What is sad though, is Meeka never ever wants to go back in her kennel - she just wants to stay with her favourite humans - so we have to bribe her, or more often than not, pick her up and carry her through the doorway!
Meeka shares her beds, food and toys perfectly. She will need to be homed with another more confident resident dog who will provide her with the doggy company she loves and needs. Meeka has clearly had a very sad, very hard past life. She has such sad eyes, a scar on her chest which we think is down to being attacked, and of course a tummy that has carried lots of pups. If I had space I would adopt this beautiful lady. She is beautiful inside and out, an absolute dream to work with. She is relaxed, and has a truly wonderful vibe. Just look into her eyes - doleful/soulful/beautiful  I LOVE her!!!

Meeka is by far one of the most amazing beagles you’ll ever have the privilege of meeting! She came to the centre on the 8th July and unfortunately she is still with us... since arriving at the rescue she has made so much progress! She has come out of her shell so much.
Meeka is an absolute delight! She adores human affection and once acquainted with you, she rather gracefully perches her two front paws up onto your lap and buries her head in your hands for a good face massage. She loves to run free in our sand school and play with the other dogs. Once she has had her little run about she ALWAYS follows right behind or next to me when I’m either walking around the yard or taking her kennel back to their kennel. She is such a quiet gentle girl and gets on with all the dogs she has met.
I would definitely describe Meeka as having mother figure qualities. Although she has come a long way and built on her own confidence, she has helped all the other dogs which have been kennelled  with her to come out of their shells too. It breaks my heart to see her kennel buddies either go to foster or be adopted and for her to be left behind..... I love Meeka to bits and as much as I want her to stay where I am (the rescue), it is time for her to find her forever home!
She deserves a warm loving family who would take her on fun adventures and provide a home where she can cuddle up to her new family, permanently.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

ADOPTION DETAILS - MEEKA ^ IS BY DONATION

Although MEEKA ^ is by donation rather than the full adoption fee, we ask for a minimum donation of £100 to help cover the costs that have been incurred. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
