09-08-19 - Spice is a stunning Westie who has come from a breeder. She is a wonderful girl with the prettiest smile! She has never lived indoors before and needs to live with another kind resident dog who can show her the ropes and let her copy new skills like housetraining. She is a quiet girl who does hide in the corner but she will allow you to pick up and settles in for a cuddle.  Spice really needs a nice quiet home where she can learn that life is not so bad

30-08-19  UPDATE

Spice has been in her foster home for nearly 10 days now. She is doing really well and beginning to realise that not all humans are scary and unkind.
When she first arrived she would hide behind the bushes in my garden or in the narrow gap between my raised bed and the perimeter fence (now sealed off). She would shake with fear when I went near or had to lift her into the house. It was very hard to witness this little one being so terrified of me. Spice has watched closely when I’ve played and interacted with my own 2 resident Westies. “Perhaps this mad Scottish woman who calls me sweetie all the time isn’t that bad after all!”
Ideally Spice will need a quiet home with at least 1 resident, kind dog to help her settle into life as a much loved pet. She will also need an owner who is around most of the time and preferably have experience of scared exbreeders.
Children would be too scary for this little dog so a childfree home would also be preferred, although visiting children would be ok as long as they were respectful of her space and not too boisterous. Spice has been clean in the house day and night since she arrived, a very clever little girl. She doesn’t walk on a lead yet and we won’t begin this until her confidence grows a bit more. She has been to the doggie beauty salon and I’m sure you’d agree she is a very pretty girl! Spice is a little gem and who every adopts her will be very lucky indeed.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
